The most common modes of household refuse disposal in Rwanda are by composting (45.1%) and by throwing it unto the farms. Even in the City of Kigali, the proportion of households still resorting to these modes remain high: 19.1% and 20.3% respectively. Otherwise, the main modes of refuse disposal by households in Kigali City remain public refuse dumps (32.4%) and private dust bins (12.8%).
